Black Mirror Creator Teases USS Callister Sequel

In 2017, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker opened up the fourth season with USS Callister, an episode that featured Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly, a gentleman who trapped electronic clones of his colleagues in his have typical Star Trek-influenced entire world. It was a residing hell for the clones until eventually Nanette Cole (Cristin Milioti) led a revolt from Daly. The episode was so well-been given that Brooker has been speaking about a sequel considering that 2018. Now, the sequel has seemingly by now started manufacturing.

Although talking with The Hollywood Reporter, Brooker described why it took so long for the sequel to occur together before letting it slip that the forged has been reunited.

“It was a thing we have been wanting at for rather a extended time,” said Brooker. “There were various iterations it went by means of, different model we wanted to do and were being discussing on and off for quite a few years. But there are a great deal of schedules to kind out, and then the pandemic received in the way. It was some thing that seemed like it was not heading to come about, and so I was delighted when it did. So, it is really been a moment. But even crafting the people is a luxury I don’t typically get. I’ve hardly ever had it just before on Black Mirror, to have a character that survives over and above 1 episode! So that’s been a great deal of pleasurable, and then looking at them all on set has been fantastic.”

Brooker hinted that Plemons’ character may well also return despite his fate in the preceding episode. He also teased a bigger canvas for the story.

“We continue the story from where by we remaining off,” stated Brooker. “And there are some new characters as perfectly. There is new things to do with exactly where they’ve now finished up versus wherever they ended up.”

Black Mirror Year 7 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
